CANADA ETA APPLICATION

Before you begin

Before your Canada eTA application form leaves our hands, a person reads it. We check the spelling of your names, your passport number, your dates and your travel details against your document, because one transposed digit is enough to make an authorization unusable at the boarding gate.

First, have your passport in front of you. Then allow about seven minutes to complete the Canada eTA application form. If anything looks inconsistent, we write to you before we transmit your application.

After you submit

Four steps, and we carry them.

01

We read your file

First, a person checks your passport number, the exact spelling, your dates and the consistency between your answers, not only a script.

02

We come back to you

If something in your answers looks wrong, we email you before we transmit anything.

03

We send your file

Next, we transmit your Canada eTA application form and you receive a confirmation by email.

04

The answer arrives

Most answers come back within minutes. However, some files go to manual review, which can take up to 72 hours.

One authorization per traveller: there is no family eTA, infants included. We handle group applications in a single pass — see applying as a family.

Your authorization is linked electronically to the passport you enter here. If you renew that passport, you will therefore need a new application — see how long an eTA stays valid, or what sends a file to manual review.
