Official online form for your eTA application
GENERAL INFORMATION
As soon as we receive your application and confirm your payment, you will receive your Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) by email. The processing and confirmation time is generally very short (ranging from a few hours to 48 hours).
Your stay in Canada is valid for 3 or 6 months (unless immigration authorities set a different duration with your consent—a very unusual decision).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS UPON ARRIVAL IN CANADA
Since August 2015, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) has been mandatory. It is valid for 5 years or until your passport expires. Please note that if you obtain a new passport, you will need to reapply.
You can apply for an ETA online. In case of an emergency or if you need assistance, our customer service team is available online 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to help you submit your application or ETA.
U.S. citizens do not need an ETA to travel to Canada.
CITIZENS OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES MUST PRESENT AN ETA TO TRAVEL TO CANADA
ETA APPLICATION FOR AN ENTIRE FAMILY
Since ETA applications are individual, you must submit a separate application for each member of the same family.
ETA APPLICATION
For most ETA applications, you will receive a response by email within 1 day.
Some applications take longer to process. In this case, you will receive an email from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) explaining the reasons for the delay.
If you change your email address, contact our customer service to update your file.
Your eTA is linked to your passport and is valid for 5 years, but you will need to renew it if you get a new passport.
USEFUL INFORMATION – REMINDERS
Your eTA allows you to stay in Canada (for tourism or business) for 3 or 6 months, or until the date specified by immigration authorities upon your arrival. Please note: an eTA is required for every entry into or transit through Canada.
